In the tranquil village of Kenton-on-Sea, where the rhythm of life is as steady as the tides, a coffee dream quietly brewed. It all began in 2017 when Mig, a local with an insatiable love for the bean, decided to turn his passion into something more. Armed with nothing but a dream and a really good coffee machine, he opened a small, unassuming shop that would soon become the heart of the community.
Mig’s vision was simple: to share his passion for exceptional coffee with his neighbors and visitors alike. He poured his heart into creating a welcoming space where people could connect over a perfectly brewed cup. And that’s exactly what happened. MmCoffee quickly became a beloved institution in the village.
What started as a cozy little shop has grown into a gathering place for locals and a must-visit destination for tourists. But despite our growth, our heart remains the same – a dedication to great coffee and genuine connection, one cup at a time.

Meet Miguel:
The OG
The story of MmCoffee began on a sweltering Thai afternoon, a day that would forever alter the course of my life. On a cycling trip In Thailand,I was dragged into a “special” coffee shop by my friends. Skeptical of the appeal of coffee on such a hot day, I begrudgingly followed them inside. Stepping into the shop, I was immediately struck by the vibrant atmosphere. Intrigued and a little confused, I decided to give it a try.
The first sip was a revelation. The rich, smooth flavour was a far cry from the instant coffee I was accustomed to. It was a complex and nuanced experience, one that left me wanting more. From that moment on, I was hooked.
Returning to South Africa, I embarked on a quest to understand the intricacies of coffee culture. I spent countless hours exploring different coffee shops, tasting various brews, and learning about the art of roasting and brewing. My passion grew with each cup, and I became increasingly fascinated by the science behind coffee.
Five years later, armed with knowledge and experience, I opened MmCoffee in Kenton-on-Sea. The shop was a reflection of my journey, a place where I could share my love of coffee with others. With every cup served, I hoped to inspire others to embark on their own coffee adventures and discover the joy of a perfectly brewed espresso.
Meet Bobby:
The roaster of Our Brews
Hello, I’m Bobby Adams, and I hail from the small village of kuQumbu in Transkei. My coffee journey began in 2007 with my initial barista training in Port Elizabeth. Two years later, I furthered my skills with professional training at Ciro, where I began my full-time career as a barista.
In 2011, I was honored to be crowned the Eastern Cape Cup Tasters Champion, an achievement that ignited my passion for coffee roasting. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to mastering this intricate art.
To deepen my understanding of coffee, I pursued and completed a Diploma in Coffee in Turkey. This incredible opportunity allowed me to travel extensively, exploring the diverse world of coffee across countries like Hungary, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.
In 2017, I achieved another milestone by winning the South African Cup Tasters Championship. During my travels, I stumbled upon the charming village of Kenton-on-Sea, where I met Miguel and was immediately captivated by the community’s shared passion for coffee.
I’m thrilled to have recently joined MmCoffee, a welcoming shop with a clear mission to grow and share coffee knowledge. As an experienced barista and coffee roaster, I’m eager to contribute to this unique brand. My current focus is on refining our coffee roasting techniques and exploring the fascinating ways they influence flavor profiles.
